A Terrible Thing In America

I see a terrible thing that has happened to America, not by Muslims, not by pro-choice folks, not by determine atheist who desire to run the Christian church out of America, not by big corporations doing unethical business, not by government who chooses to support issues other that the issues the majority of Americas want supported, not even by the demonic forces working within our country. A terrible thing has happen that most of us don't see. It has crept in over the decades not even being noticed. It has moved in and taken its place and many of us have paid our allegiance to it. It has taken the focus off what is foremost and put it somewhere else. Its attention and allegiance is given subtly, maybe even subconsciously. The terrible thing that has happened has been done by us Christians in America. I have begun to see it surfacing and it is not a good thing. I am beginning to see Christians that are concerned about where America is going, becoming more concerned about America than the Kingdom of God. I have seen some subconsciously getting the two switch around and some treat them as the same thing almost. As we examine our motives and allegiances I would ask this question, 'are we spending as much effort in getting Americans saved as we are in trying to save America? When it comes right down to it which flag do each of us fly higher, America's or God's? If we had to give one of the flags up would we have a struggle deciding? Would it be the flag of the Kingdom of God or would it be the flag of this 'great'?? country of America? Our allegiance must undoubtedly be to the Kingdom of God with no hesitation. We must put the Kingdom of God in such a place in our souls, our hearts, and our minds that it would be no different no matter what country we lived in the world.

We must realize where our eternal citizenship lies and all others must come in second place far behind our first. We are saved and given a place in eternity through Jesus Christ by His blood. Some Christians seem to be fighting for America as if there secure place in life comes from being American. Yes being American has its benefits but our secure place in life comes from one place, and only one place, the hand of God. I am not putting America down – I'M LIFTING GOD UP. We Christians have had it so easy in America for so long we have forgotten where ALL our blessings come from. We fail to give all the glory to God that He is due. Who else said let there be light and there was light? Who else told the mountains to rise into place and they obeyed? Who else has parted the waters of the Red Sea? Who else died on the cross that we might be saved and have life more abundantly regardless of what country we live in. Yes, we do need to hear 2 Chronicles 7:14 because we have allowed our allegiance to God to slip a little. We do need to humble ourselves and ask forgiveness of allowing anything to come even close to the allegiance we give God. We need to do a good deep examination of ourselves and make sure there is no flag flying anywhere close to the one we fly for the Kingdom of God. We are nothing without Him no matter what country we live in. HE IS OUR 'ALL in ALL'. Each one of us needs to look back at where we have come from and realize God, and only God, could have ever brought us to where each of us are today. No matter how life is right now for any of us we must keep our eyes on eternity – it's the only thing that really matters. We must focus on the one who gives us this eternity giving Him the glory due His Name. If we do this and allow His light to shine brighter in our lives than any other light, like a beacon compared to a candle, then first He will tend to the matter of the condition of our hearts, then afterwards the condition of our physical lives (which includes the country where we live). God must be foremost and way out ahead of anything else that take attention or importance in our lives.
